NetNewsWire RSS Reader

|

It's been almost a year since I downloaded the trial version of the NetNewsWire RSS Newsreader and took it for a spin. Today I downloaded the latest copy and plunked down my $29.95 to activate it. Boris was right... it's indispensable, though I guess it's taken me up until now to get to that point.

My only complaint about the software (I'm using the new version 3.0) is that it still doesn't have an easy way of authenticating sites with self-signed SSL certificates.

There are a number of hacks described (for example, here) for getting OS X to accept these, but this should really be more easily done at the level of the reader.

Meanwhile Boris has moved on and is using Google Reader, consistent with his philosophy of keeping everything 'in the cloud', off his machine, so that it is accessible from anywhere, and that there are no problems with synchronization, loss of data, etc.
