Still not a household name

I was reading the book reviews of ACM Queue magazine last week, and was happy to discover a review of Pro Drupal Development, by John VanDyk and Matt Westgate. I enjoy Queue magazine, and I like the idea that there should be a publication that aims to offer something for both the theoreticians and practitioners among software developers. I thought 'Perfect! This is a great venue for this book to be reviewed.'

So I was a little disheartened to read the first line of O. Lecarme's review: "When I initially picked up this book, I was not aware of the existence of Drupal". Fortunately, he goes on to sing the praises of both the software and the book.

I suppose I've been drinking the Drupal kool-aid for so long that it seems strange to think that there are people who have not heard of Drupal, but clearly, the reality is that there is a large group of people who would be as happy to discover Drupal as Lecarme was. Hopefully, the existence of great books, like John and Matt's Pro Drupal Development, and some of the upcoming ones, such as Angie Byron's "Practical Drupal" to be published by O'Reilly, will continue to spread the word about Drupal to new and welcoming audiences.
