One month until we move

It's hard to believe, but in exactly one month we'll be loading up the last of the bits and pieces and moving to our new house at Yellow Point, just outside of Cedar / Ladysmith.

It's going to be a busy month of packing, sorting, cleaning, arranging, saying goodbye to favorite places and people, and setting up the new life.

Making the adjustment from an essentially Urban lifestyle to semi-rural will be a very interesting challenge. Already I've come to realize how ignorant I am of stuff that's pretty key to day to day existence - how do wells and septic systems work, how do you figure out what kind of stuff will grow in your garden, what kinds of plants grow locally and how can you tell what is what? Can we get by with one smallish, old-ish car? How important is hanging out at the local cafe to our lifestyle?

To make up for the distance to the nearest Cafe, we are a 5 minute walk from the ocean, and we have alpacas next door. I don't know yet if this is a pro or con, but it's certainly something that most of our friends can't say :)
