Peaceful Restaurant - Mandarin Cuisine

| |

We were walking through the rubble that is Cambie and Broadway a few days ago and discovered the Peaceful Restaurant. In the location formerly occupied by the Jade Garden, on a block fairly littered with restaurants, this little gem doesn't really stand out until you get inside and order.

Peaceful restaurant specializes in North Chinese Rustic cuisine, including many noodle dishes. You can watch the many different varieties of noodles being made by hand while anticipating the arrival of your order. We had chive cakes as an appetizer - the were fresh, savory, just a little crispy and very delicious. This was followed up by a dish of great fresh veggies in a tasty broth, with home made noodles. The young woman who helped us with our order (new owner?) was extremely friendly, very passionate and forthcoming about their food, and genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our visit.

We've been missing the Don-don noodle restaurant, which was just the latest in the long string of businesses forced under by the Cambie line construction. It's been a great favorite of ours since we moved to the neighbourhood, and we were very sad to see it go. But I think we may have found a new favorite
